Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship¶
Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship stands as a beacon of inspiration, dedicated to ignite a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship among students, researchers, and the wider community. With this its mission firmly rooted in nurturing an innovative ecosystem, the centre aims to kindle the entrepreneurial spirit within and beyond the university's realm. It's a space where ideas flourish, visions transform into reality, and new ventures find their wings to soar.
The concept of establishing the centre was originated in 2018 when the University of Calicut and the Kerala Start-Up Mission (KSUM) signed an MOU to establish a fabrication laboratory (FabLab) on the campus. The projected gained momentum, under the leadership of Prof. MK Jayaraj, who assumed the role as the Vice-Chancellor. An 8000 square feet space was identified and transformed into the centre. It features a spacious incubation centre, and a fully equipped FabLab, and dedicated training and skill place. The Centre was officially inaugurated on 16.01.2024 by the Honourable Minister for Public Works, Tourism, and Youth Affairs, Sri P. A. Mohammed Riyas.
Moreover, the centre has already begun attracting startups, making the commencement of its operational phase. The centre has successfully conducted numerous skilling and training programs. Also, the centre were shortlisted by Niti Aayog, Government of India, to establish an Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC).
